New post brought to you by INFLUENSTER! They sent ya girl the Marc Jacobs beauty voxbox that contained two of Marc Jacobs Hydrating Lip Gloss Sticks! Now I will be honest…. Even though these are lip gloss sticks I expected a bit more from them. Especially from such a high end brand such as Marc Jacobs. I received two colors from Influenster FREE to review which were Candy Bling ( a red/ berry color) and Uh-Huh Honey ( more of a brown shade). ‘
These colors (as nice as they are) are not as vibrant as I’d like. I’m just assuming that’s in part because it’s essentially a hybrid of a lipstick and lip gloss. Oooooor a glorified tinted lip balm! Which leads me to my next point. It has very little staying power.
I mean, that’s kinda why I prefer the lipstick route so that my lip color can last as long as humanly possible! I don’t get that with these Lip gloss sticks! I found myself having to reapply too often.
Another con, unfortunately, is the packaging. It’s not too great. Upon first glance it looks like your typical gloss with the brush that you would pull out and apply that has a screw off top. Not the case. You actually just pop the top off and your presented with a product that looks more like a lipstick.
The product twists up but the flaw is that you can twist it back down! So just a heads up if you were to purchase this: DON’T TWIST UP TOO MUCH BECAUSE IT STAYS UP!
*update* They sent an insert along with the product that LITERALLY tells me THE STICK DOES NOT RETRACT. TWIST UP ENOUGH FOR ONE APPLICATION ONLY. IT’S ULTRA CREAMY FORMULA NEEDS TO BE HELD IN THE TUBE UNTIL READY TO USE.
That’s my bad for not reading! But it still seems like a flaw….. LOL!
Now for some pros! It does feel very nice when it’s on. My lips felt really hydrated long after I put it on so that’s a plus. These products contain vitamin-rich Kahai oil to keep your lips moisturized.
Even though the colors aren’t ridiculously vibrant like a lipstick, they do a good job of providing color for those days were you may want to keep it simple sista!
I meeeeeaaaan as much as I’d love to try a couple of these other colors (because P(r)each and One Mauve Time look soooo pretty) I’m not sure I’ll be making that purchase anytime soon at that price.
They have 6 other colors with a price tag of $28 a pop so If you feel compelled to do so definitely check them out.
Until the next post my loves!! XOXO
Candy Bling poppin’ on my pout! LOL!
